In order to have everything go smoothly on the day with needed equipment, the technicians have asked me to create an input list to send to them
This involves all the microphones needed for each instrument, if a microphone stand is needed, a short or tall boom, in addition to all the cables that I would need: XLR cables, TRS, instrument cables
The technicians requested for me to send them these at least two weeks in advance to the actual performance so that they could come back to me and recommend anything else that they think I am missing or could benefit me – for example, after sending my first list, they suggested I request a headphone splitter, which reduces the amount of cabling
I wasn’t 100% sure on what microphones to use for certain instruments and I was also suggested: Neumann KMS105 for vocals, DPA4099 for drums, SM57 for bass
I looked through other examples of input lists online, which gave me an idea of what was needed to be sent
The technicians also sent me examples of what they wanted me to provide them with, since I just thought they needed a list of what microphones I wanted to book and for what instruments, but then realised that from looking at examples, I needed to provide the numbered inputs I would be needing to plug these into as well as if they need a short or tall microphone stand so that they can provide me with these too
I didn’t really get the chance to test out specific microphones and placements because I changed my project nearing to the end
I had to go back and forth emailing the technicians, until they were satisfied with my list of requested equipment – for example, they told me that I would have to request for more XLRs rather than just requesting for one XLR per microphone
final channel list I sent to the technicians
I was also asked to send a rough stage plot for the performance – this is so that the technicians have an idea of how I want everything to be set up and see if my proposed plan is practical within the space that I have
After discussing with my course leader about the space and stage plot, he suggested that I could have the band in a circle, where they can all face each other, which I drew out:
