To research live music venues, I went to a jazz bar night at Night Tales Loft. This helped me visualise the set-up of an ongoing jazz live night and think about what I could take from this and do within the darkroom space for my event.
- Additional notes:
- wonder if the band were all female if it would change the vibe, since the band we saw were all male, including the sound technician – thought this since Laiara’s EP is solely around women in music
- place where people stay for quite a while
- enjoy the ambience
- comfy and intimate
- people do what they want with the band playing in the background
- some people kind of zone out and be one with the music
- pizza is provided so people can chill and not just have drinks
- the ambience stays the same – the lighting and setup, the only thing is the music that switches up
I took pictures of the microphone set up for each instrument. From these, I found that for the guitar amp, they used the sE Electronics guitaRF, a reflection filter, where two microphones can be set up and can isolate the signal that the microphones receive, which is ideal for live performances to avoid any bleed from other instruments on stage.
