3. INITIAL PRESENTATION AND ORGANISING

For my first submission for my Final Major Project, I had to create an initial presentation. Doing this helped me to lay out and summarise what I am actually doing for my hand in, with goals set in mind to reach whilst doing this project. This also helped me set out how I would have to organise everything since knowing what I need to have to do, I can look at the time that I have until my deadline and create a rough timeline on what I need to get done by a certain date. This can be something that I can look back on to see if everything stays on track or if I’m falling behind my initial schedule during the process. I figured out two different rough timelines for planning the EP launch live show as well as producing the actual EP, both at the same time, which I would have to organise effectively in order to get them both done. There will have to be a lot of organising from my side in order for everything to go smoothly. Since producing the EP for Laiara, it gets a bit confusing as to what my actual hand in is, so I would need to emphasise and prioritise the live show rather that the EP itself.

For research, I wish to do research on live music venues that perform not only jazz, but other genre fusion venues. From these, I can take note of the setup of the band, find common techniques of these venues – which can indicate that these techniques are effective. After creating these timelines, I think that a challenge for me would be having to handle everything at the same time.

To try to start being organised, I had to lay out everything, being what I need to do for my project that I’m having to do at the same time as other uni units. I did this by creating stickies on my laptop to state everything that I need to do and what I would need to research in more depth, so that everything is in the same place on my laptop, without me having to find certain notes and going back and forth to check what I need to do.
