Because there were different sections of the animation, I wanted to emphasise each one to show the differences. For example, near the middle-end, there is the part where he seems to be dreaming, so I added lots of reverb to the sound effects within that section, setting each of the tracks to one bus that had reverb, sending as much to that bus on the tracks as desired. I added a layer of transition sounds in between the section just before this dream section starts to show the change in atmosphere. For the end part, instead of having the transition sound when it cuts to him eventually falling asleep on his desk, I made the transition cut quicker from the empty dreamlike ambience to the white noise of the silence in the classroom, where all the students fell asleep. In addition, when having such small parts from audio samples I gathered, I had to use the fade tool to crossfade audio files next to each other as well as subtly fading in and out of each audio file so that it doesn’t cut out too unexpectedly, where it doesn’t sound as well fitting to the video. I found that when doing each individual audio, it was best for me to mix straight away rather than leaving it till the end, which I feel would take longer because I could focus on one small part, then mix it, and move onto the next and not this about it until playing it with context, and playing it after a bit of a while where my ears wouldn’t be so used to the same sound anymore and I could hear it with ‘fresh ears’.
